Peru Organic Green Coffee Beans
Bosques de Neblina is a Cajamarca-based organization that just keeps growing. What began as a group of 45 small producers in 2016 has quickly evolved into a collective of 174 members, of which 127 are organic farmers, and 47 are in transition. Their mission is to improve the lives of Bosques de Neblina members through training, technical assistance, logistics, and marketing while establishing a reputation on the regional and world stage as a driver for constant improvements in the value chain.
Peru is a top producer of fair trade and certified organic coffees – two key distinctions that help differentiate Peru green coffee from the highly competitive exports coming out of its neighboring countries. Organic farming on its own, however, can be a costly venture for farmers, starting with a three-year downtime as they transition their land.
That’s why the organic green coffee that Genuine Origin sources, in partnership with its sister company, Volcafe Peru, is produced with careful evaluation for sustainability – from an agricultural and operational perspective. Read more in our Peru Origin Report.
What Does Coffee From Peru Taste Like?
Peruvian coffee beans thrive in the high altitudes of the Andean peaks, slowly maturing into incredibly sweet cherries that are hand-picked for maximum ripeness. Coffee from Cajamarca is known for sweet cup profiles, and this organic lot from Bosques de Neblina is full of dark chocolate, brown sugar, and walnut notes accentuated by mild acidity and a soothing heavy body.
